regional label printer, developed a customized Order Entry
system to handle all internal operations. The application
coordinates all aspects of an order, from initiation (both
via EDI and custom forms), to scheduling, materials
allocation, shipping and invoicing. Financial information
is also captured and retained to track accounts
receivables and other pertinent customer information. The
system was created using VB 5.0, SQL Server 6.5/7.0, and
NT Server 4.0.
This application also allows customer WEB access.
Customers can log in to a secure area and track the status
of their orders from entry point to shipping, with links
to major freight shippers' web sites. They can also
request invoices to be reprinted, faxed, etc. The
information is automatically extracted from the local
databases via the NT scheduler, and passed to the web
database several times per day.
